Parishioners work together to feed the hungry during Lent.  

Fr. Daniel Mode addresses parishioners of St. Mary of Sorrows Church in Fairfax last month, discussing the cause for sainthood of Fr. Vincent R. Capodanno. Fr. Mode is the author of the book “The Grunt Padre” on the life of Fr. Capodanno, who was killed while serving as a Navy chaplain in Vietnam in 1967. 

The annual Seton School girls’ retreat, led by Dominican Sister Joseph Andrew Bogdanowicz, was held at the school in Manassas March 22. Sister Joseph Andrew is the foundress of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist — an order she helped form in Ann Arbor, Mich., which now has nearly 140 sisters.

Best Buddies is an international nonprofit organization that specializes in promoting inclusion and breaking down social barriers for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The chapter at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria hosts several fun events throughout the year and the club has gone on several visits to nearby Alternative Paths Training School to build friendships with buddies. Additionally, the club sponsors fundraisers and bake sales to raise money for the Best Buddies organization.
