Kristie Meyers, curriculum coordinator at St. Bernadette School
in Springfield, is the new principal of St. Isidore of Seville Diocesan Virtual
School. She succeeds Leslie Lipovski, diocesan superintendent of curriculum and
assessment, who was named interim principal when the school launched this fall.
Meyers has 20 years of experience in education in both public and
private schools. She holds a bachelor’s in elementary education with specialty
areas in science, social studies and music from Indiana University; a master’s in
curriculum and instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University; and an educational
specialist degree in K-12 School Leadership from Regent University in Virginia
Beach, where she is pursuing her doctorate.
Meyers has taught students from prekindergarten to college, but
the majority of her teaching career has been teaching middle school science. At
St. Bernadette, Meyers oversaw all aspects of the school’s testing and
standardized assessments, student scheduling and curriculum delivery across all
grade levels. Additionally, she spearheaded professional development and
professional learning communities for the school’s faculty.
She and her husband, Mark, have two children who attend diocesan
schools.
“St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School, an innovation in
Catholic education for our diocese and beyond, takes another important step in
its maturation with the appointment of Kristie Meyers as principal,” said
Joseph Vorbach, diocesan superintendent of schools. “She is a talented and
spirited Catholic educator who brings a wealth of experience to the role,
including knowledge of pedagogy for online learning. Of course, we could not
have made it to this point without Dr. Leslie Lipovski’s creative leadership as
interim principal over the past four months. I am so grateful for her
efforts.”
“It has been my extreme pleasure to get St. Isidore of Seville
Virtual School up and running,” said Lipovski. “I believe we have assembled
some of the most talented teachers from both within and outside of our diocese
who have expertise in not only pedagogy, but specifically, in online pedagogy.
Kristie Meyers comes to us with a plethora of knowledge in teaching and
learning in the online environment and will successfully lead the school into
its next phase. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity I was given to
assist in helping St. Isidore of Seville become a reality for our Catholic
school parents and students.”
